Shauntae drove to Pittsburgh from Buffalo for a new beginning. She started a new job, maintained her car payments, but struggled to find housing that she could afford.
She was new to the city, had no connections, or even a friend to call for help. For months she slept in her car, then an abandoned house.
Until that day a co-worker took notice and told her to call United Way 2-1-1 for help. She was immediately referred to Bethlehem Haven’s Emergency Shelter.
Before, Shauntae was hurting, without a home and at risk living on the streets. Today, Shauntae lives happily in her own apartment and is gainfully employed. She is a proud owner of a custom created jewelry line.
The Haven provided Shauntae a safe and stable environment to become self-sufficient. She thanks the staff for empowering her to never give up on her dreams.
