Dorothy isn’t your typical story of homelessness. She had a full-time job, financially supported her family, and was stably housed. After the passing of one of her children, her world was turned upside down and triggered a severe mental breakdown.
Overcome with depression, she began missing work, began falling behind on her bills, and soon lost her housing.
One day at a local community center, a volunteer gave Dorothy Bethlehem Haven’s number to call. Once at the Haven, her case manager referred her to the on-site Health and Wellness Clinic. She then received one-on-one counseling to address her mental health. Once her health was stabilized, she was empowered to find housing.
“I’m blessed to be here now in this apartment. My housing is my peace.”
